Afterwards, continue along the trail under the characteristic blast furnace gas pipelines and through several railway underpasses heading north.
You'll pass the site of the former freight yard, where the new ICE maintenance depot is being built – a place where Dortmund's industrial past and technological future meet. Shortly afterwards, you'll reach the port area, where the city reveals its raw, urban side: water, bricks, containers, and street life dominate the scene.
Along the harbor promenade, you have an unobstructed view of the historic Old Harbor Office (1899) and the container terminal. The event ship Herr Walter and the Nansen restaurant invite you to stop and enjoy the maritime harbor atmosphere.
