A wooden plank path leads you through the fascinating Grosse Veen. A unique heather moor stretches out before you with rare plants such as sundew, cotton grass and rosemary heather. The animal world is also impressive: the moor frog and the moor damselfly are just some of the inhabitants that make this area a treasure trove of biodiversity.

Next door, you can immerse yourself in the mysterious world of the Diersford Forest. Majestic oaks, towering copper beeches and rustic pines create a backdrop that looks like something out of a fairy tale. They offer a protected habitat for the stag beetle, one of the largest beetle species in Germany.

The history of the forest comes to life when you cross the historic game enclosure that was once built for hunting. Today, red deer, fallow deer, mouflons and wild boar live here. With a little patience, you can watch the animals from a viewing hut. But their tracks are often easier to find: ploughed earth and scattered leaves tell of their nocturnal activities.

An absolute highlight on your way is the Black Water. This The picturesque heath pond, surrounded by a light forest landscape, is part of one of the oldest nature reserves in North Rhine-Westphalia. A viewing dune invites you to pause, enjoy the silence and let nature work its magic on you.

This hike is no ordinary tour. It offers you wide views, deep forest silence and the opportunity to encounter fascinating flora and fauna - a journey into the diversity of nature.
