With its diverse exhibitions, the LUDWIG GALLERY in Oberhausen Castle is one of the Ruhr region’s cultural highlights. The large rooms of the classical castle, which were built at the beginning of the nineteenth century, offer you a varied programme with loans from all over the world.
Three presentation pillars
The LUDWIG GALLERY in Oberhausen Castle presents international art under three categories: The Ludwig collection shows works from the ancient world to Dürer, Riemenschneider, Picasso or Warhol to current artistic positions. The popular gallery presents comics, caricatures, illustrations, poster art, photography and video art. Whether works by Wilhelm Busch or Janosch, Walt Disney, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Peter Lindbergh or Jim Rakete – they are all to be admired in the LUDWIG GALLERY in Oberhausen Castle. Finally, the landmark gallery is supporting the process of structural change in the region and places this in an international context. The conceptual temporary exhibitions relate to the early coal, steel and industrial region which has now transformed into a centre for services.
