What do mining and swimming fun have in common? An awful lot, as you can see in the AQUApark in Oberhausen. In approximately 25,000 m², dive into four areas in AQUApark Oberhausen. There is Experience, Outdoor, Gastronomy and Sport to choose from which provide an awful lot of leisure and water fun in a spectacular mining environment. The X-tube slide is the longest in Europe at 120 metres and leads you on a wild journey on rubber rings from inside the mining pool to the outside area.
On a rapid slide tour
And more slides await you in AQUApark Oberhausen: Complete darkness is only broken by colourful disco lights in the black hole slide. Experience a fast-paced water world in a replica of a coal seam, drift along the flow passage or relax in the large pool with its bubbling geysers. In nice weather, the powerful dome roof of AQUApark Oberhausen opens and you can see the sky over Oberhausen - as well as the 18-metre-high mining tower with its rapid slide which leads directly to the cool water of the swimming pool.
Relaxation and action
AQUApark Oberhausen also caters for relaxation: The 25-metre outdoor pool is pleasantly warm with a temperature of 31 degrees and there is lots of space on five bubble-jet recliners to easily let your mind wander. For those looking for more action, the Sport area is the right place: In the workers’ hall, you can keep fit with aqua gymnastics or swim lengths in the 25-metre pool. After so much exercise, you will be starving sooner or later: There are main meals and light bites in the cafe & Bistro zum Flöz.
Aquapark Oberhausen: Swimming in a mine
The entire area is a giant replica of a mining site. So on your visit, in between water fun and action, you will also learn a bit about the history of the Ruhr region and its mining: What actually is a pithead bath – as the changing area in AQUApark Oberhausen is called – and what is a coal seam? On the Mini Miners’ Tour you will learn this: The mining trail leads you through the pool and conveys the world of mining in a playful way. The mining experience pool in AQUApark Oberhausen is in the vicinity of Europe’s biggest shopping centre Centro and the experience aquarium SEA LIFE. There are 450 parking spaces in a free car park directly next to the AQUApark.
