In Neukirchen – Vluyn, you can hike to the Norddeutschland mine dump and get a fantastic all-round view over all of Kreis Wesel. Both Himmelstreppe and Hallenhaus landmarks – designed as a work of art, are illuminated in the evenings. Paragliders may launch into the sky from here. Still visible is the red miner’s lamp on the Rheinpreußen mine dump in Moers - from here there is an incredible view over Duisburg and Moers.
Thanks to its location in Lower Rhine, you will find a variety of bathing opportunities in nearly all places, communities and towns in the area. For example, the town of Xanten is not only famous for its Roman settlement and its picturesque old town, the Xantener Südsee Leisure Centre invites you to dive into its cool waters. Water skiing is even possible here. In Alpen, you can even bring your four-legged friend to the beach of the Mezelen-Ost Leisure Lake.

Fans of hiking and cycling get their full money’s worth in Kreis Wesel. Thanks to its location in the Hohe Mark Nature Park, you have access to an extensive network of trails. In Schermbeck, there are several conservation areas and numerous cycle paths lead to the Roman Lippe Route or directly to the Netherlands and to the middle of the Ruhr region. In Rheinberg, you can follow Jakobsweg.
