Opera, operetta, musical and ballet: four genres that you can experience at Hagen Theatre thanks to its solid music theatre ensemble. There are some drama productions on the programme, which are complemented by guest performances. The Hagen Theatre is an all-around citizen theatre and thus one of the most important cultural attractions of the city in the south-eastern Ruhr area.
Under the direction of Francis Hüsers who has been the director of the municipal theatre since the 2017/18 season, a musical is to be produced anew every year. And even if you're in the mood for more sophisticated material, you're in good hands at the Hagen Theatre: Increasingly, opera productions are mixed among the musicals.
Hagen Theatre: an art nouveau treasure chest for everyone
The Hagen Theatre has had eventful times in its history, which spans more than 100 years. Despite all odds, it continues to exist and is one of the architectural landmarks of the city. With 784 seats in the Great House, as well as workshops and stages newly opened in 2003, the children and youth theatre Lutz and the rehearsal and studio stage Opus, the Hagen Theatre is open to all theatre fans.
