Those arriving in Dortmund by bus or train will immediately come across the city's widely visible landmark: the Dortmunder U. The administration building of the former largest West German brewery, the Dortmunder Union Brewery, was developed into a unique cultural centre with international appeal as part of the European Capital of Culture - Ruhr.2010. You can already see the "Flying Pictures" of the breathtaking installation by the film artist Adolf Winkelmann from afar. Around the roof crown of the building, film sequences with characteristic landscapes and panoramic views of the Ruhr Area run around the clock. Typical insights into the region as a cultural area are shown.
