The oldest landscape garden in the Ruhr Area is the Bochum City Park and is located in the immediate vicinity of Bochum city centre. Created in 1876, the park will enchant you with classic garden architecture in the English style. On an area of over 31 hectares, Bochum City Park is home to a gondola pond with large water fountains, the Bismarck Tower built in 1909 with a beautiful view over the city, a zoo and a rose garden.
Observe animals in the Bochum Zoo
At the Zoo & Fossillium, you can observe more than 4,000 animals and more than 300 species. Katta, meerkats and the like swarm around in the nature-orientated facilities and enclosures all year round. Seals, penguins and waders have enriched the "Nordseewelt" (North Sea World) adventure park since 2006. Beside these animals, you can also admire over 400 fossils in the aquarium and terrarium house. Furthermore you will find both native and exotic fish, in addition to the snakes, lizards, monkeys and amphibians in the zoo. The petting zoo rounds off your visit to the zoo.
Fun and variety in Bochum's City Park
Furthermore, a mini-golf course, an adventure playground and the large water playground provide fun and variety. "Milchhäuschen", an ice cream café popular with young and old alike, provides for sweet refreshments. Here you can also make yourself comfortable indoors or relax outside in the wicker beach chair.
