When visiting this institution, you will encounter an outstanding ensemble, works by important directors and listed architecture from the 1950s. Whether at the Schauspielhaus, Kammerspiele or Theater Unten, a very special theatre experience is guaranteed at each of the three venues, 298 days a year!
Schauspielhaus Bochum: Something for every taste
Whether classics of theatre literature, modern plays or world premieres of contemporary authors, musical evenings, dance or children's and youth theatre in the Junge Schauspielhaus: there is something for everyone at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. Speaking of taste: The restaurant Tanas at Kammerspiele invites you to enjoy a colourful selection of food and drinks to add some culinary enjoyment to the atmospheric feeling of the theatre. If you still feel like clubbing, a concert, a late-night talk or improvised performances after an exciting evening at the theatre, we recommend the Eve Bar under the stage of the Schauspielhaus.
Everyone finds a seat at the Schauspielhaus Bochum
In the Great House you will experience the productions together with 811 other spectators. That’s how many people can be seated here. Since 1996 you can also go to the Kammerspiele, in which director Johan Simons wants to focus on special theatre projects. The Dutchman joins a number of directors such as Hans Schalla, Peter Zadek, Claus Peymann, Frank-Patrick Steckel, Leander Hausmann and Matthias Hartmann, who have shaped Bochum's reputation as one of the most important theatre venues in the country. The "Oval Office”, which some of you may still known as “Theater Unten”, has a new programme alongside with its new name: A media art centre in which internationally renowned artists can present innovative formats.
