Experience independent scenes de luxe in the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr

You will find a full cultural programme in the former roundhouse in Mülheim! Where locomotives were previously stored, the foundations were laid for an independent scene in 1992. The goal: The continuous promotion and further development of productions with an intercultural and cross-genre character. Ranging from contemporary theatre, performances and dance to exhibitions, readings, lectures, parties and concerts, contemporary themes and diverse art forms meet in and around the industrial monument.

Immerse yourself in the theatre cosmos of the independent scene

Three stages as well as an art and communication room with small restaurants: in the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr there are four places where exchange and interaction play an important role. As a co-production house and socio-cultural centre, regional and international artists, ensembles and collectives come together here again and again. In addition to classical forms of theatre, they also develop projects that you can be part of. The Ringlokschuppen Ruhr is well known, especially for those in the town.

Ringlokschuppen Ruhr: Celebrate the independent scene festivals

Every year the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr is the venue of the Mülheimer Fatzer Tage, a festival for political theatre in the Ruhr metropolis. Each year you can experience how young artists and well-known ensembles deal with the facets of Berthold Brecht's Fatzer Fragment. From its inception, the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr is a fixture at the Impulse Theatre Festival as one of the central venues. Since 2011 Shiny Toys, a festival for visual and audio-visual arts also takes place there. In addition, the "turntable" of the Ringlokschuppen, which is situated in a green area, offers an ideal platform for open-air events.
