Strategy of the Ruhr Tourismus GmbH

The Ruhr area is becoming more and more popular as a travel destination. In order to maintain this positive development in the future, we are currently working on updating our marketing strategy for the coming years based on the state tourism strategy for North Rhine-Westphalia. This is intended to clarify which visions and goals we are pursuing with the support of local partners from the private sector and those responsible for tourism in the eleven major cities and four districts of the Ruhr area for the further development of the tourism destination Metropolis Ruhr and with which strategies and target group definitions according to SINUS this can be implemented.

We hope that the marketing strategy will also be used as a guide for you and your company and that we can continue to pool our strengths and leverage synergies through joint, coordinated work beyond the city limits. We look forward to working with you to further strengthen tourism in the Ruhr Metropolis with regard to its importance and to anchor it in the region's political agenda in the long term.

Territorial strategy concept for tourism in the Ruhr area

The territorial strategy concepts form an important basis for the upcoming tourism promotion within the framework of the ERDF funding 2021 - 2027.

The fields of action defined in the territorial strategy concept for tourism in the Ruhr area are the basis for the projects and measures still to be developed and serve to implement the goals and strategies. Which projects and measures can be funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) depends on the specific selection criteria of the ERDF competitions and calls, which will be decided in the course of 2022. Possible funding projects must therefore on the one hand check whether they can contribute to the development of the region in accordance with the present TSK and on the other hand meet the selection criteria of the ERDF calls.
