Marketing department - Press and Public Relations team

Tasks carried out by the Press & Public Relations team include corporate communication and destination marketing. Press work for all RTG projects and products are handled in the Press and PR division. As well as creating press releases and other texts, establishing contact to regional, national, and international journalists, and handling press enquiries the team is also responsible for organising and carrying out press conferences and press trips. The Press and Public Relations department is the link between RTG management and the media; all interview requests, recordings, or statements are handled here in collaboration with management.

Tasks

  • Participation in organising and carrying out press conferences
  • Creation of texts and advertorials for in-house and outside publications (such as RUHR.NEWS and Metropole Ruhr magazine)
  • Editorial work on the www.mein-ruhrgebiet.blog blog and on the website (own texts, rewriting present texts)
  • Provision of image materials for journalists and other partners
  • Dispatch of press releases and updates on the homepage with the TYPO3 CMS
  • General administrative tasks
  • General office and administrative tasks
  • Oral and written communication with journalists and other external contacts
  • Updating data
  • Preparation and follow-up on internal and external meetings as well as participation
  • Research work


Conditions

  • Studying a course in tourism, languages, communication studies, marketing, or media
  • Mandatory internship (with evidence from the university) or study-related internship (three months)
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet research
  • Knowledge of other systems an advantage e.g. TYPO3
  • Can work independently and excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of German language and grammar, creative writing style and the ability to express oneself in both linguistically and stylistically appropriate manners depending on the RTG topic area in question
  • Ideally has initial experience in journalism (if so, please provide references)
  • Identifies with the Ruhr region and has a passion for the area
  • Commitment and willingness to work in a team
  • Solid written and spoken English skills
