We are Ruhr Tourism

Attract people from all over the world to the region and show them what the Ruhr area has to offer, so that they come back and bring friends. That is our mission in one sentence! In 1998, the predecessor organization of Ruhr Tourismus started to boost tourism in the Ruhr area. At that time, it was more of a wish than reality that tourists would actually come here.

We have a vision: by 2030 we want to be able to keep up with the big, creative cities in the world in terms of tourism (maybe even overtake them). What is important to us: The Ruhr area keeps its buddy mentality with many rough edges and remains true to itself.

Number jugglers, letter twisters, Ruhr area veterans, industrial culture gurus and bike connoisseurs: Almost 50 colleagues churn out a lot of brain power in our projects every day so that the Ruhr area becomes better known and even more travelers drop by to be convinced of our favorite region.
