The three-legged winding tower of the Sterkrade colliery, a relic from 1903, is one of the few remaining structures of its kind and also one of the oldest German buttress structures in North Rhine-Westphalia. This delicate masterpiece, constructed using half-timbering, is connected to its past via a massive shaft hall. The historicist façade of this three-story brick hall evokes memories of the majestic Malakow towers of the 19th century.
