hiking region "Wanderwelt Südspitzen"

The "Südspitzen Hiking World" enchants with its wooded and idyllic landscape, crossed by refreshing streams and embedded between gentle meadows and dense forests. This breathtaking scenery is made up of the Breckerfeld heights, the Ennepe valley, the Gevelsberg city forest and the playful Schwelm parks.

Ideal for adventurous day trips and multi-day excursions, but also for spontaneous breaks - the region offers flexibility and variety in one. A special highlight: from the Wengeberg in Breckerfeld, the highest elevation in the Ruhr area (442 m), a panorama stretches out to Cologne Cathedral in good weather. The nearby "Glörtalsperre" combines nature and relaxation, and in summer you can even go swimming.

An unusual route is the Ennepe-Hangweg, which mostly runs directly along the river through the picturesque Ennepetal. The path takes adventurous explorers to the Kluterthöhle National Natural Monument, an impressive cave world that is worth exploring.

The Gevelsberg city forest with its old, characterful beech trees is particularly mysterious. Numerous circular hiking trails invite you to spend whole days in magical nature.

For optimal orientation, we recommend our free hiking map "Wanderwelt Südspitzen" at a scale of 1:25000, including an inspiring panoramic poster. For a complete overview or further information, the website is available for downloading or ordering materials.
