Bergkamen City Museum

There's a lot to discover in the City Museum. Embark on an exciting journey—from the Stone Age, through the Roman period, to modern times. The permanent Roman exhibition showcases unique exhibits from the Roman era, and you can create your own Roman camp at the large multi-touch table. In the archaeology department, you'll be transported back to the Stone Age—extraordinary fossils from the Earth's history await you. In the city history department, you'll find a corner shop from the 1920s and a historical classroom. The basement houses the mining department, featuring the unique Barbara Tunnel. Experience exciting stories from the era of coal mining on the "Little Mine Tour." In the museum courtyard, you'll find a unique, life-size educational tunnel.

WE'RE RENOVATING... Due to renovations, the museum will remain closed. All exhibitions are being redesigned and updated. The building is being modernized, and the new extension will provide the museum with a new entrance and a new event space, which has been in use since March 2022.
