LVR Industrial Museum St. Antony Hütte

In Oberhausen, at the historic site of the first ironworks in the Ruhr region, the era of iron and steel production comes to life. Since 1758, the St. Antony Ironworks has had a significant impact on the development of the industrial region. Even then, the dam to industrial progress broke in the inconspicuous half-timbered house on the Elpenbach, when pig iron first bubbled out of blast furnace mouths.

More than just machines and buildings - the museum takes you into a social network of fraud, violence and power games that accompanied the steelworks' rise to become a global corporation. The stirringly designed permanent exhibition in the former director's residence unfolds the dramatic stories and reveals juicy details of the huge economic conflict that began here. The key role of the church is also not ignored. Don't miss out on visiting the birthplace of industrial culture in the Ruhr region. The St. Antony-Hütte fascinates with stories that cannot be told, but must be experienced.
