The Hullern reservoir is used to produce drinking water and is known as an idyllic excursion destination in a natural setting, especially for those seeking peace and quiet. In the immediate vicinity and connected to the Halten reservoir, the Hullern lake is a popular alternative to the usually very well-visited and heavily tourist-oriented excursion destination next door. Various circular routes with different route lengths of between seven and 15 kilometers are signposted for hikers, strollers, families, walkers, etc. There are a few, albeit fewer, rest and dining options along the circular routes than in Haltern. On request, the city agency/tourist information office can arrange guided tours with expert guidance.
