The artificially created Haltener reservoir has been used to supply drinking water since 1930. It is where the Stever and Mühlenbach rivers meet. The lake is particularly popular with hikers and cyclists because it offers idyllic viewing and rest areas. And of course beautiful paths: the shortest circular path is around nine kilometers long, and there are also various other paths with different profiles around the lake.
In summer, when the weather is good, guests can also rent paddle boats, pedal boats, canoes and rowing boats, as well as admire the numerous sailing boats. The 800-meter-long sandy beach is called "Seebad" and is equipped with beach chairs, children's playgrounds and many games and sports facilities. Hikers and cyclists can stop here to refresh themselves. There are various campsites and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the Halterner reservoir.
