Founded in 2021 as a project shop in a former vacant space, Das PLUS am Neumarkt has developed into a creative anchor point at the central Neumarkt in the Ruhrort harbor district.
The three-part concept, comprising exhibitions, artist shops, and events, builds on artistic synergies that are intended to arise from the interplay of these three elements. Regular weekday opening hours offer visitors access to the artist shops of Angelika Schwedes, Dotty McWenders, Hans-Peter Weyer, Rebecca Malz (Bex), and Manfred Bellingrodt. Here, small, handcrafted gifts, photographs, and artworks can be purchased at reasonable prices.
Monthly changing exhibitions as part of the event series DARGEBOTEN ensure regular variety, whereby the exhibitions are based on the principle: "whoever dares, may," so that debutantes often alternate with experienced artists.
Two further event series ensure a lively atmosphere. HANDVERLESEN offers handcrafted literature firsthand. AUSGERUFEN is a diverse concert series that provides a stage for singer-songwriters, instrumentalists, and smaller bands.
In addition, civic gatherings, workshops, and sustainable projects such as clothing and plant swaps are regularly held. The shop functions somewhat like a village event hall, occasionally hosting flea markets for the popular farmyard flea market.
