Pütt & Panorama – dieBergWerks-Tour

The new "Pütt & Panorama" tour of the RVR visitor center Hoheward takes you high up and deep into the depths. Experience authentic and very special insights and perspectives into the history of mining and the changes in the cultural landscape that have resulted from it. You start at the anchor point of the Industrial Heritage Route and an example of one of the region's large underground mines, the Ewald mine. After a glimpse behind the scenes of the quarry complex, you will travel comfortably by bus up to the largest spoil heap landscape in Europe. Mining formed entire landscapes here in the north of the region and these have now been transformed into green leisure and recreation oases. Hoheward, the highest freely accessible spoil heap in the heart of the Ruhr region, promises a breathtaking panorama with an additional heavenly function, the astronomical plateaus. You will then literally get to the bottom of the whole phenomenon. Where do these spoil heaps come from, what did it look like underground, how was work done there? As Germany's largest experience mine for hard coal mining, the training mine promises a unique and authentic insight into the working world of miners, foremen and co. After a 90-minute exploration tour through the mines and longwalls, you return to the starting point, the RVR Hoheward Visitor Center at the Ewald mine. Good luck!

Note: For safety reasons, participation is only possible for ages 8 and up. Sturdy shoes are required.
