The Bistro Schacht XII is a restaurant and event location in Hall 12. Historical photos create a mining atmosphere inside, and there is also a large outdoor area. From 1932 to the mid-1960s, five conveyor belts ran through the upper floor of the hall, which was then called the reading belt hall. The material to be mined was roughly pre-sorted there: workers picked up (“picked”) pieces of rock from the conveyor belts by hand and threw them onto another conveyor belt.
