With the International Garden Exhibition 2027, the Ruhr region is bringing its green spaces into new focus. From April 23 to October 17, 2027 A network of locations emerges, revealing how city, landscape, and future-oriented topics are interconnected. Parks, waterfronts, industrial areas, and urban open spaces become venues for projects addressing climate, mobility, biodiversity, and new forms of coexistence.
The IGA makes urban development actively tangible. Many projects are created in collaboration with initiatives, start-ups, associations, and groups from the region. The focus is less on classic garden show formats and more on ideas for how a metropolitan region can further develop its public space.
For visitors, the IGA 2027 offers diverse points of entry: newly created parks, temporary experimental spaces, activities in the neighborhoods, and programs that connect nature, culture, and community. The exhibition showcases the Ruhr region's multifaceted nature today – and the immense potential inherent in its green and urban spaces when viewed from new perspectives.
