“Myth of the Forest” offers an intensive look at the forests of our earth – emotional, surprising, thrilling, explanatory and always scientific The exhibition is well-researched. In various sections, the Gasometer showcases forest regions from Brazil and the Congo to Europe, focusing on the unique diversity of flora and fauna, as well as the indigenous peoples whose forest habitat is shrinking. Naturally, the exhibition also documents the dramatic consequences of the destruction of this vital ecosystem through slash-and-burn agriculture.
With “The Tree”, visitors on the upper floor are offered a unique view from the visually designed root system into the abstract treetop rising 40 meters high into the sky of the gasometer – an art installation never before realized.
