Palestine, 0 BC. In neighboring stables, two boys are born – Jesus Christ and Brian Cohen. The life story of the former has often been set to music (most famously Handel's oratorio "Messiah") – the MiR presents the first oratorio about Brian's life! The adult Brian joins the resistance against the Romans and is mistakenly believed to be the Messiah. The misunderstanding cannot be cleared up, and Brian falls into the clutches of Roman justice… Monty Python member Eric Idle, after the huge success of the musical "Spamalot," has reunited with composer John DuPrez and transformed the 1979 cult film into a hilariously funny oratorio. In it, baroque choirs and Handel-style arias meet entirely different musical styles – gospel, tango, mariachi, big show numbers, and heartfelt ballads – and blend together to create a delightfully riotous parody. In the end, the reluctant messiah hangs on the cross and receives the sage advice: "Always look on the bright side of life..." Monty Python's turbulent satire on religious fanaticism, blind adoration, and prejudice has lost none of its relevance and, incidentally, answers questions like: Is life without sheep possible? Why do Brian's followers worship a sandal? What are the political goals of the People's Front of Judea? And who actually owns the last song?
