Fazıl Say is a pianist and composer known for his powerful, vibrant interpretations. Say, born in Ankara in 1970, is considered one of the most charismatic artists of our time. He achieved his breakthrough with his Mozart interpretations, which brought him worldwide fame. Today, he is not only a pianist but also a composer of works that build bridges – between East and West, tradition and modernity. Among his iconic moments are the world premiere of his "Istanbul Symphony" and the acclaimed tour of his own piano concertos, which established him as a boundary-crosser between worlds. "I want music to be like a conversation – honest, direct, and full of emotion," says Say.

The program in Bochum begins with Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition," one of the most monumental works in piano literature, whose musical "paintings" open a gallery brimming with imagination and expressiveness. Fazıl Say then presents his own compositions – works that weave together Turkish rhythms, contemporary harmonies, and personal narratives.
