UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein

No other place in the Ruhr Area stands - also internationally - as much for the Ruhr Area as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Zollverein in Essen. You probably know "The most beautiful colliery in the world" or at least you've heard of it, right? The former coal mine is a symbol of structural change in the Ruhr area. The Ruhr Museum with the longest escalator in Europe is just as much at home here as the dance center PACT Zollverein, the Red Dot Design Museum and several restaurants. In summer you can swim in a former sea container, surrounded by red steel, and in winter you can skate on the site of the former coking plant. In addition, one photo spot follows the next on the huge site, where nature and industry go hand in hand.
