The town of Wetter lies directly on the River Ruhr and, with its extensive woodland and green areas, appeals in particular to relaxation-seeking nature lovers. Whether a weekend trip or as an excursion destination during a short break – in Wetter you can take a break from everyday life.
Some locations in Wetter appear mediaeval, for example if you enjoy the view of two castle ruins, the Harkort tower in the Ruhr valley or strolling through the beautiful old town of Wengern.
One of the most beautiful sections of the Ruhr Valley Cycle Route runs along the River Ruhr and past the water reservoir through Wetter. Water sports enthusiasts should not miss unhurried explorations of the waterways or, for instance, taking a canoe tour on the River Ruhr.
The Henriette Davidis museum is well worth a visit even if the weather is good. The culinary and contemporary history of Wengern's famous daughter is lovingly presented in a decorative little half-timbered house.
