The town of Wesel lies in the north-western part of the Metropolis Ruhr. With plenty of nature and beautiful paths, the region around Wesel provides for outstanding hiking or cycling holidays. Wesel is also a beautiful excursion destination in the Ruhr Area as a contrast to the lively cities in the region.

 

Sporting activities such as cycling and hiking play a great role in Wesel. However, culture also plays an important role. Theatre performances, concerts and other events take place, for example, in the Niederrheinhalle and the Städtische Bühnenhaus theatre.

Wesel's town museum recounts the history of the town in three sections. In the Preußen Museum Nordrhein-Westfalen (North-Rhine Westphalian Prussian Museum), the 300-year history of Prussia and its role in the Weimar republic and national socialism is illustrated.
