Werne an der Lippe, located in the North of the Ruhr Area and close to the large cities in the Metropolis Ruhr, is primarily used as an attractive nearby recreational area and popular excursion destination in the Ruhr Area.

 

Werne town museum gives a good overview of the town's history. Cultural attractions are the old town hall, the open-air theatre and the Kolpingsaal. The lake in the town park and the River Lippe are perfect for an unhurried stroll along the banks or for undertaking long cycling tours.
