The small town of Voerde in the district of Wesel lies in the West of the Ruhr Area and astonishes with an extensive cultural programme throughout the year. As an insiders' tip for a city break in the Ruhr Area Voerde is a worthwhile excursion destination.

 

Among the highlights of the events in Voerde are children's theatre, art exhibitions, cabaret and classical concerts.

Places of interest include the Götterswickerhamm evangelical church and the moated castle Haus Voerde. The catsle lies in the centre of a small park. It was built as a fiefdom of the Werden Abbey before 1200, and since 1950 has been property of the town of Voerde.
