Schwelm
The city of Schwelm in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in the South of the Ruhr Area scores highly with its visitors mostly due to the scenic beauty of the region. Many historic half-timbered houses in the typical style of the Bergische Land provide lots of reasons for an excursion or a weekend break.
However, it is not only the beautiful half-timbered houses in Schwelm that make a short break worthwhile, several special events also attract visitors to the town. The most important town festival is the Schwelm town festival, which takes place annually around the first weekend in September.
Other important events are the old town festival and the International Folklore festival, which both take place in the summer. The regular Farmers' market and the Christmas market also take place in Schwelm's town centre.
