Niebuhrg Theater

Culture, events, and mining history: at Oberhausen's Niebuhrg Theatre, these elements are combined to display the transformation of the Ruhr Area and its unique industrial heritage.

Modern theatre productions are now performed in the old mining administration building of shaft 6 at the Concordia colliery. The old mining structures might give visitors cause to hesitate initially, but when they walk into the theatre it becomes clear that old and new are complementary, not contradictory! The outdoor Garden Theatre invites audiences to open-air theatre productions. With a mixture of musical productions and plays, the programme is varied. Events, markets and parties are also held on the grounds.
