The world of model railway in Oberhausen

The Ruhr Area as a model railway: the setup at the CentrO in Oberhausen is a popular excursion destination for families with children, and also for bigger railway fans.

Railway enthusiasts in the Ruhr Area are drawn to Miniaturwelt Oberhausen. Located directly by the CentrO in Oberhausen, the model railway world has been built lovingly and with accurate attention to detail, and shows the final phase of the mining industry in the Ruhr Area.

Visitors to Miniaturwelt Oberhausen go on a little journey through time in the Ruhr Area. Over an area of 400 m² of visible grounds and along 4,800 metres of track, you can find many of today's industrial heritage monuments, and over 80 trains in fascinatingly industrious operation. Neither do the people of the Ruhr Area and their everyday life get short-changed in the model railway world.

Whether as a family outing, group trip, bus tour or simply as a railway enthusiast, at the Miniaturwelt Oberhausen visitors experience the Ruhr Area as it used to be, excitingly and unexpectedly designed as a model railway world.

Oberhausen

Oberhausen shows its original idyllic side at Oberhausen mansion, and particularly in the old town centre near the Central Station, the old market place, Friedensplatz and Ebertplatz. If you want to immerse yourself in the history of the city, the best places to go are the Rhineland Industrial Museum which contains an outstanding collection of exhibits illustrating 150 years history in the iron and steel industry, and the Eisenheim settlement, the oldest working-class housing estate in the Metropolitan Ruhr Area.
