Gasometer Oberhausen

The Gasometer in Oberhausen, a former gas storage facility, can be seen from a great distance, making it a high-visibility landmark for the Ruhr Area, and is one of the most impressive exhibition venues in Europe.


The visit is guaranteed to be a highlight on your city break in the Metropolis Ruhr. From 8 Starting in April 2011, the new exhibition, "Magical Places, Natural and Cultural Monuments of the World" can be seen in the Gasometer.

Spectacular photos, works of art and the 40-metre tall sculpture called "Rain Forest Tree" will take visitors on a journey round the world to the greatest and most moving cult locations of natural and human development.

The visit is rounded off by the magnificent view over the entire western Ruhr Area from the 117-metre high roof. You ride up the inside of the Gasometer in a glass elevator. Concerts, lectures and other events are regularly held here.
