Altstadtfriedhof Mülheim an der Ruhr

Many of Mülheim's important families from the 19th century have found their final resting place here, including industrial families such as Stinnes and Thyssen, whose imposing monumental graves you can visit during your city break in die Ruhr metropolis.

The resting places can also be found here of famous entrepreneurial families such as Schmitz-Scholl, the founder of the global Tengelmann corporation, and the leather manufacturer Coupienne.

The park-like grounds with their beautiful old trees had long been forgotten, until in the middle of the 1980s they were painstakingly restored from monumental and ecological perspectives.
