Press Information: Ruhr Metropolis publishes new Sales Guide

One of the exciting new German travel destinations, the Ruhr metropolis, has published a new Sales Guide, addressing tour operators and travel agents. Right now the Ruhr region is more like an “off-the-beaten-path” destination, however, the year 2010 as European Capital of Culture will turn the spotlight on this exciting part of Germany.
For years, the region has been living the motto "Change through Culture, Culture through Change". Recently the world’s biggest travel fair ITB Berlin presented the Ruhr Metropolis as their first partner region ever (compared to partner countries in the years before), a lot is happening in one of Europe’s largest urban areas these days. The new handbook for the travel trade fills 78 pages- easily.
Topics covered range from hotel recommendations to event highlights, contacts to guides and routing suggestions. The Sales Guide reflects the concept of the 5 Discovery Areas which are designed to provide visitors with information about travelling in this vast region of 5.3 million inhabitants. New Visitor Centers in 5 major cities will serve as hubs and starting points, every area is also focusing on a special theme.

The Ruhr Metropolis is made up of 53 cities and towns located in the Western part of Germany, in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Ruhr Tourismus GmbH in Oberhausen is responsible for joint tourism marketing activities. Coming up in 2010: The region is celebrating the year of RUHR.2010- European Capital of Culture.
