Herdecke

Herdecke lies directly on the River Ruhr and is therefore particularly attractive as a destination on the Ruhr Valley Cycle Route. Especially active holidays such as hiking holidays or canoe trips are popular with guests.

 

The Ruhr Valley Cycle Route, which covers 230 kilometres between Winterberg and Duisburg, also passes Herdecke. The Ruhr lakes Lake Hengstey (Hengsteysee) and Lake Harkort (Harkortsee) are attractive areas for water tourism and offer relaxing tour possibilities on the Ruhr, especially for canoe holidays.

There are also industrial monuments in Herdecke that are well worth a visit. The Koepchenwerk pumped storage station, Hengstey power station and Cuno power station are sights well worth a visit on the Route of Industrial Heritage.
