Gladbeck
The town of Gladbeck is located centrally in the Metropolis Ruhr, and is therefore a good starting point for a short holiday in the Ruhr Area. Unique industrial heritage in Gladbeck draws the visitors, and also makes the little town an exciting excursion destination.
The highlight of Gladbeck is Zweckel Machine Hall, which in 1997 was converted into a venue for important and simultaneously exceptional events. Cultural highlights are today performed for visitors on the grounds of the former colliery. In addition, the Machine Hall is also a significant landmark on the Route of Industrial Heritage.
Another town landmark in Gladbeck is the moated castle Wittringen, which contains the town museum of Wittringen. Set in a beautiful and extensive park, the castle is a wonderful excursion destination in the Ruhr Area.
