Stratmanns Theater

Comedies, cabaret, stand-up comedy: the Stratmanns Theatre on Kennedyplatz in Essen brings a varied programme to the stage and makes a valuable contribution to the cultural scene of the Ruhr Area.


First and foremost there is "Doktor Stratmann", with over 100 performances a year, a stand-up comedian whose shows are all recorded and broadcast very successfully on German television. The Doktor is currently on stage with his latest show, "Kunstfehler" (malpractice).

You can indeed: the Zollverein pit XII is so beautiful that in December 2001 it was elevated to the rank of a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The pit went into operation in 1932.
