Aalto Theater

Since 2 centuries the asymmetric curved lines of the Aalto Theater are shaping the face of Essen. It already guaranteed various guests a great evening full of music an ballet.
The opera house was built by the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. It does not only fascinate with its impressive architecture, but especially by the artistical quality of the music director Stefan Soltesz. For years the Aalto Theater the Aalto Theater ranks as the location for German opera and ballet arts.

Essen - world cultural heritage city and city of the arts. Can you possibly call a mining pit beautiful? You can indeed: the Zollverein pit XII is so beautiful that in December 2001 it was elevated to the rank of a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. The pit went into operation in 1932. At the time it was seen as an ideal form of industrial architecture and an outstanding example of the Bauhaus style. MORE
