Together with the Ruhr Museum and the Red Dot Design Museum, and the exceptional range of restaurants, visitors to Zollverein experience grandiose elements of a city break in the Ruhr Area.

A further highlight is the new Folkwang Museum in the centre of Essen, presenting the finest modern art and extraordinary special exhibitions. The spectacular range of options for cultural breaks is completed by the Philharmonie Essen, the Aalto Theatre, the Grillo Theatre and the Essen Cathedral Treasury.

Another important tourist attraction of industrial heritage is the Villa Hügel by Essen's Lake Baldeneysee, the former residence of the Krupp family.
