Ennepetal
The city of Ennepetal, located in the south of the Ruhr Area, is an ideal destination to take a holiday in the middle of nature. For this reason, the city and its surrounding areas are particularly suited to nature fans who wish to take a short break.
A tourist highlight of the region is the Kluterthöhle Cave. With 360 explored passageways and a total length measuring approximately 6 kilometres, the largest natural cave in Germany offers visitors recognised healing opportunities for respiratory illnesses. Guests with a thirst for adventure can also explore the cave by taking part in a guided climbing tour. Furthermore, special guided tours for children make the Kluterthöhle Cave an attractive destination for family excursions in the Ruhr Area. In addition to this, unusual events transform the cave into an extremely special event location.
Multiple dams, in particular the Ennepetal Dam, are ideal destinations for day trips in the Ruhr Area. The Platsch Aquatic Centre provides the necessary relaxation during a short break in Ennepetal.
The Ruhr Valley Railway Line entices railway fans to take adventure tours into the Ruhr Area. The railway line also runs to Kluterthöhle Cave on selected days.
