Signal Iduna Park
Signal Iduna Park, still affectionately called the Westfalenstadion (Westphalian stadium) by many Dortmund inhabitants and Borussia fans, is the BVB's football stadium. Football enthusiasts above all should therefore make a stadium tour through Germany's largest football stadium part of their trip in the Ruhr area.
At the weekends 83,000 visitors flock to the home games of the football Bundesliga, no other stadium in Germany contains more football fans. The colossal stadium was built for the 1974 Fifa World Cup and has been continuously extended since then. For the FIFA football World Cup 2006 the spectators were able to experience a true world champion atmosphere and even a special semi-final match with a particularly bitter departure for the German team.
Immediately next to the stadium is the Borusseum, the football museum of the BVB, another tourist place of interest which is also very popular with group tours and coach trips as well as for football fans. Another possible combination is the German Football Route, which combines the key sites in football history in the Ruhr area.
