Dorsten

Dorsten, the "small Hanseatic town on the River Lippe" has an attractive town centre that invites visitors to take a stroll and pass the time. The topic of "water" plays an importantrole in Dorsten - both within the town and due to the River Lippe and the Wesel Datteln Canal.

The River Lippe provides visitors with numerous opportunities for excursions - both on the water as well as next to the river. Guided canoe tours on the River Lippe offer both fun and action in the Ruhr Area as well as beautiful views from the waterside. On the towpaths located next to the River Lippe, where horses used to pull the boats, touring cyclists today ride their bikes and experience a cycling holiday that is full of variety in the Ruhr Area. With the River Lippe Baldur Ferry, guests can cross from one riverbank to the other by means of a crank handle.

The Hanseatic history of Dorsten can be seen in the narrow alleys and some historical houses. Beautiful fountains, interesting shops and pretty cafés characterise the centre of Dorsten. It goes without saying that diversified catering establishments, ranging from starchefs to simple cuisine form part of a short relaxing break.

Holidays and leisure both in and on the water

Piers in the yachting harbour, at the lock, in the Hanse Marina and at the Lippetor provide visitors holidaying on sport boats and travelling along the Wesel Datteln Canal with quick access to the town.

The open-air swimming pool Atlantis complete with giant water slides, sauna and wellness facilities, as well as true sea flair, provides its guests with a complete feel-good factor. Special programmes, events and activities complete the fun and round off a successful excursion in the Ruhr Area.
