Datteln
The city of Datteln is a centre for water sport fans but is also a great excursion destination for guests who wish to partake in hiking as well as those who want to experience a short bicycle holiday in the Ruhr Area.
As a junction for all four canals in the Ruhr Area, Datteln possesses a unique waterway network that particularly excites sport boat captains. There are also attractive routes in addition to the canals that are particularly suitable for cycling holidays and provide visitors with wonderful views of passing boats. Famous long-distance cycle routes such as the Dortmund Ems Canal Route pass through Datteln.
Hiking holidays in the Ruhr Area - the Haard, as the largest contiguous woodland in the Metropolis Ruhr, is the best option for such holidays in the area. Fans of nature are more than welcome here.
The Hermann Grochtmann Museum illustrates the city's history and is not to be missed when on a short break to the city. The Town Hall of Datteln located next to the museum that is embedded in an amazing parkland complete with a wide range of botanical species is an interesting excursion destination.
