Linden brewery - Center for internatinal art of light

The Zentrum für Internationale Lichtkunst (Centre for International Light Art) in Unna is one of the most exciting museums in the Ruhr Area. It is the first and only museum in the world that is exclusively dedicated to light art. The fermentation cellars of the former Lindenbrauerei make a fascinating and effective presentation surface for light art.

The 52-metre-high chimney of the former Lindenbrauerei is visible from far away, itself light art in the darkness. Over a total area of 2,400 m², international light artists display their exhibits, which few would expect to find in the Ruhr Area.

The labyrinthine passageways, former cooling rooms and fermentation pools of this former brewing house have now been restaged as art. An anchor point on the Route of Industrial Heritage As an important industrial monument, the Lindenbrauerei in Unna is also one of the anchor points of the Route of Industrial Heritage.

Thus the Centre for International Light Art connects the new culture of the Metropolis Ruhr with the historical industrial character of the Ruhr Area.
