Prussian Museum NRW

The Prussian Museum in Wesel is an insiders' tip amongst the 120 museums in the Ruhr Area. Discover it on your next weekend outing!

The North Rhine-Westphalian 'Prussian Museum' in Wesel is an insiders' tip amongst the 120 museums in the Ruhr Area. The exhibition tells the story of Prussia in a chronological circuit, and is one of the most important cultural and historical museums in the Ruhr Area.

Over an area of 2,000 square metres, the Prussian Museum in Wesel tells the history of Prussia, from Brandenburg's first acquisitions in the Rhineland and Westphalia in the 17th century, up to the dissolution of the state by the Allied Control Council in 1947.

You can also find a lot of interesting information here on the history of churches and education in the 19th century, and on the role of Prussia in the Weimar Republic and in National Socialism.
