LWL-Industriemuseum Schiffshebewerk Henrichenburg
The Henrichenburg ship lift in Waltrop is a popular excursion destination in the Ruhr area not just for engineering fans. Information is provided for visitors on the construction of the spectacular "lift for ships" and the 100-year-old tradition of inland shipping in the old machine building.
As a key attraction on the Route of Industrial Heritage the Henrichenburg ship lift is, without a doubt, one of the most important industrial monuments in the Ruhr Area. A historical shipyard, steam ships and floating working equipment are further attractions of the harbour museum.
The exhibition on board of the cargo ship "Franz-Christian" provides insights into the everyday working life of the inland sailor.
