Oberhausen Christmas Forest
Small, but impressive is the motto in Oberhausen's city centre from 22 November to 23 December: the Christmas forest at the Altmarkt convinces with its cosy atmosphere between the 300 aromatic spruces and twinkling wooden huts.
Though this Christmas market is one of the smaller versions of its kind, it’s exactly this cosy atmosphere between the 200 aromatic spruces in the middle of the Oberhausen Altmarkt that convinces its visitors. Appropriate to the name Christmas forest the 30 twinkling wooden huts are complemented by smooth forest paths and star projections.
Smooth forest paths lead alongside moving star projections and more than 30 festively decorated huts. The booths have extraordinary gifts and craftwork on offer. Browsing through the handmade candles, lamps, glass design and precious stone jewellery awakes a real Christmas feeling in every visitor. Traditional craftsmen from the Netherlands give you an insight into the old production techniques. Ropemakers, wood carvers, blacksmiths, bookbinders and candle makers round off this extraordinary mixture.
The culinary offerings range from freshly prepared potato pancakes, grilled sausages, almonds and nuts to deliciously fragrant crêpes. Spicy mulled wine and other drinks are served at rustical wooden tables in the middle of the spruce forest.
